Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro, solar and petroleum coke plants, with a total engineering capacity exceeding 20,000 megawatts. Entergy continues to build or acquire megawatts from new hydrogen capable natural gas units, solar, wind and other technologies complement its existing megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric, and solar facilities.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for safety, compliance, budgeting, reliability, and all other aspects of the maintenance program of the plant. Provides direction to maintenance personnel, schedules resources, and manages staffing issues. Provides leadership for and the development of direct reports to embrace a culture of strong fundamentals of operation and maintenance. Embraces human performance improvement initiatives. Assures that plant operations/maintenance personnel comply with safe work practices and processes, comply with plant procedures, and efficiently and effectively operate and maintain the plant equipment
- Ranks and prioritizes reliability and financial risks using data analysis and historical and predictive maintenance information from both internal and external industry sources. Works with Plant Asset Team Lead & Fleet Maintenance group in overseeing long-range and detailed planning and execution of Power Generation unit outage, including management of cost, schedule and safety processes for outage scope
- Responsible for input in preparing and planning near-term and strategic maintenance budget. Provides and supports budget/project development and cost control for short range work plans and long-range strategic planning. Prepares and manages budget in assigned area to leverage the financial process to manage deviations from the approved annual budget
- Collaborates with Planning and Operations personnel and assigns resources to address emerging maintenance issues. Initiates and provides leadership in respect to contract management/contractor oversight for routine and outage work. Staffs and manages routine, planned, emergency, and reserve outages as well as assigned projects. Develops schedule and budget related to routine maintenance and planned outages.
- Interfaces with other members of plant management team to drive resolution of key issues impacting business processes, budget, maintenance strategies, outage scope, schedule and costs for facilities. Evaluates and champions gap closure actions that are consistent with the company's overall business strategy. Leads site teams to identify and implement maintenance strategies and funding needs for equipment processes
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external interfaces and key strategic alliance partners. Maintains an awareness of the latest industry research and practical application to drive continuous improvement
- Foster the importance of a safety-oriented culture.
- Champion strategic vision and direction of the organization.
- Oversees, leads, and directs work group, and hires and trains personnel.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Lead the team by example and coach, mentor and develop direct and indirect reports to exceed their individual and company goals.
- Act as a change agent for the plant with the daily initiative of improving morale and staff engagement.
- Lead plant efforts to ensure stakeholder expectations are met; foster and improve stakeholder communication, along with establishing and maintaining an inclusive and diverse environment.
- Be the voice of the department, offering regular communication and updates
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering or equivalent work experience (e.g. 10 yrs of Power Plant experience with at least 2 years of Maintenance Leadership experience)
Minimum experience required of the position:
- Without degree: 10 years of Power Plant experience with at least 2 years of Maintenance Leadership experience
- With technical degree: 5 years of Power Plant experience in maintenance, operations or project work
- Desired:
- Experience with Gas Fired Steam Legacy or Combined Cycle power plants
- Experience in Power plant operations at a supervisory level
- Contract and project management experience
- Budget management experience
Expected Previous Leadership Roles
- Contract/ Project Manager, and/or Operations or Maintenance Supervision
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
- Knowledge of power plant operating and maintenance practices, equipment maintenance strategies, lockout/tagout procedure and other safety procedures
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with contractors and outside agencies
- Possess excellent verbal, written and computer communication skills
- Ability to maintain and develop a strong, effective and safe team through leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to actively engage subordinates and other plant personnel to strive for operational and maintenance excellence
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
- High level of personal accountability and ownership within the Operations and Maintenance policies and procedures, as well as each employee within
