Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Assist with contamination and dose control. Maintain the Radiation Work Permit Program.
- Track radiation exposure for personnel and work tasks. Determine methods to reduce radiation exposure.
- Assist with radiation protection coverage for work tasks. Establish worker stay times.
- Establish radiological work requirements. Maintain laboratory quality control. Assist instrument calibration and operation.
- Maintain radiation exposures ALARA. Maintain radiation exposures within the limits. Maintain respiratory protection program.
- Understand adverse radiological conditions on equipment and personnel performance.
- Assist in laboratory work as directed.
- Lay out work from prints or verbal instruction.
- Prepare records and reports.
- Perform necessary housekeeping as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Comminssion endorsed regulations and standards.
- Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards and other regulatory agencies.
Minimum Requirements:
- Concentration in health physics and/or Radiation Control Technician Certification (RCT Certification)
- Rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior Preferred.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required (on a 4.0 scale).
