JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
This position will manage departmental outage activities and work requests to determine total impact on requirements, industry guidelines, priority needs, and available resources.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review outage work assignments to ensure the station staff is responding appropriately to outage needs.
  • Coordinate outage activities with station departments to minimize plant and system downtime and maximize plant power generation.
  • Control outage cost through maximization of staff productivity and tracking expenditures within budget parameters.
  • Review plant facilities on a routine basis. Negotiate with vendors to acquire refueling parts and services.
  • Oversee adherence to procedures and documentation which govern and control outage activities.
  • Represent the department at plant meetings to discuss and resolve matters effecting nuclear plant safety, industrial safety, radiological safety, and environmental conditions.
  • Review and evaluate performance of outage staff and contractors. Recommend necessary outage training as required.
  • Create and administer the outage budget.
  • Propose design changes that improve outage and personnel efficiency.
  • Interface with regulatory and industry representatives on behalf of station outage activities.
  • Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing.
  • Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


Minimum education required of the position

  • Typically requires a college or university degree in related field or the equivalent work experience.


Minimum experience required of the position

  • 7+ years
  • Desired:
    • 6+ years of experience with refueling outages
    • 3 years of previous supervisory experience


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • None


Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

  • Desired: SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR.
