Job Summary/Purpose

This focus of this position is to lead planning and analysis associated with the generating supply needs of Entergy's regulated operating companies, with a focus on reliability and production cost analyses of generating supply. In addition, this position will help develop staff members engaged in energy market modeling, facilitate cross-training on energy market modeling within the System Planning organization, and provide technical expertise to support processes and deliverables associated with energy market modeling. This role will also support the regulatory processes associated with executing the resource plan needed to serve large load additions, and support Op Co efforts in transacting with supply options.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Provide strategic and business advice to Entergy business units and management concerning the selection of supply-side resources and operation and role of generation units. Support and execute strategic and technical studies to guide regulated operating company supply plan development.
  2. Supports and leads in the development of integrated, strategic, supply-side business plans (both near-term and long-term) that support company planning principles and objectives. Leads team to develop and present plans to management for approval, manage the implementation, and continuously monitor and adjust strategic supply-side plans as needed. Develop testimony and act as an expert witness in various federal, state, and local legal and regulatory proceedings.
  3. Lead analysis efforts for SPO to evaluate the economic and operational performance of supply-side resources. Develop tools and methods that enhance understanding of resource requirements and assist in optimizing generation portfolio. Develop tools and methods to assess the economic and operational performance of supply-side resource and strategies. Develops team members on the usage and empowers them to support the operational plans.
  4. Manage planning analysis activities through effective leadership of resources in a matrix management environment. Is viewed as a leader within SPO and across the enterprise for the expert level understanding of planning analysis activities. Manage a team of highly technical professionals and develop their work assignments, performance measures, and goals. Oversee allocation of resources to planning and analysis activities. Understand enterprise and customer needs in order to anticipate and react to major trends in business and industry structure.
  5. Work with Legal, Regulatory, Power Development, Power generation, Power Delivery, and other System Planning organizations to develop and implement supply-side strategies. Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and present and defend results to senior/executive level management, regulators, interveners, and customers. Results-oriented, customer-focused with a track record of accomplishment in developing robust, creative solutions to complex problems.
  6. Contributing member of the Lead Team to the overall strategies and direction of the SPO group. Coaches others in organization, including leaders and vice President, on developing new techniques and concepts in an evolving business environment. Provide mentorship and development to the team and the individual team members. Assure that the Individual Development Plans of each team member are complete and moving forward.

 

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelors degree with a concentration in engineering, mathematics or business or equivalent work experience.

 

Minimum experience required of the position

6+ years of planning experience with a generation/supply-side background.

 

Preferred Requirements

8+ years of planning experience with a generation/supply-side background. Candidates with 2 years of direct management experience preferred.
