Note: This is a hybrid role, working out of the office 3 days per week, and can be based out of our offices in New Orleans or Baton Rouge, LA as well as The Woodlands, TX.  Those outside of these areas would need to relocate for this opportunity, relocation assistance is not available for this posting. This position can be filled as an Environmental Analyst I, II, III, or Senior depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications

 

SUMMARY:

As an Environmental Analyst at Entergy, you play a critical role in developing and implementing processes to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations that affect the electrical utility industry. Working primarily in an office setting, you will utilize your expertise and Entergy's standards to provide guidance to operations personnel on environmental issues, regulatory compliance, and permitting processes. Using knowledge and expertise, conducts assessments of operational locations to ensure compliance, and if needed, taking necessary actions to close gaps in compliance. Routinely serves on special work teams and uses expert technical knowledge to support new and ongoing projects.  

 

Duties

  • Provide oversight to vendors conducting ecological impact evaluations of Entergy construction projects including but not limited to permit acquisition (air, water, storm water general/industrial permit, wetlands, natural resources, local/county) commenting agency correspondence required as a condition of issuance (USEPA, USFWS, NOAA, SHPO and state regulatory agencies), work plan development (spoil management, environmental impact avoidance, stream crossing, equipment management), and site inspection (permit compliance and pollution prevention inspections).  Responsible for ensuring that all environmental requirements are met during new generation unit commissioning and operational readiness reviews are met according to schedule
  • Support due diligence investigations associated with real estate transactions.
  • Interface with needed regulatory agencies to ensure proper permitting.
  • Monitor environmental laws and regulations for changes that may impact Entergy work practices and assist in developing regulatory compliance strategies. Provide guidance and support to key internal stakeholders regarding environmental issues. Be thoroughly familiar with site specific environmental permits and plans.
  • Communicating issues by presentations and writing and distributing concise, timely and accurate summaries, reviewing routine reports for project management and leadership, and negotiating with state/federal agencies on the Company’s behalf to arrive at a favorable solution.
  • Participate as a team member of the Environmental system outage emergency operations and restoration organization for major storm events. Provide management and oversight of emergency environmental permitting for construction efforts.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required for the position

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience

 

Minimum experience required of the position

  • Analyst – Environmental I: 0+ years of experience handling environmental compliance activities.
  • Analyst – Environmental II: 2+ years of experience handling environmental compliance activities.
  • Analyst – Environmental III: 4+ years of experience handling environmental compliance activities.
  • Analyst – Environmental Senior.: 6+ years of experience handling environmental compliance activities

Desired:

  • Experience managing environmental programs in an industrial or power generation setting.
  • Experience in preparing environmental reports for an industrial or power generation facility, including Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs), Excess Emission and monitoring system performance Reports (EERs), Semi-Annual Monitoring (SAM) reports, and Annual Compliance Certification (ACC) reports.
  • Experience in managing hazardous materials and hazardous waste shipments in accordance with DOT and RCRA requirements.
  • Knowledge of power generation fundamentals.
