Note: This is a hybrid role, working out of the office 3 days per week, and can be based out of our offices in New Orleans or Baton Rouge, LA as well as The Woodlands, TX. Those outside of these areas would need to relocate for this oppertunity, relocation assistance is not available for this posting. This position can be filled as an Environmental Analyst III, or Senior depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications
Job Summary/Purpose
Serving as a Water Program Subject Matter Expert, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of processes required to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations. This role will support Entergy’s operations across Louisiana and Texas, tracking regulatory developments, maintaining permits, preparing reports, and providing guidance to site environmental and operations personnel to assist in ensuring regulatory compliance.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Serve as a Water Program Subject Matter Expert within the Centralized Environmental Services team, providing guidance and support across Power Delivery, Power Generation and Nuclear business functions in coordination with Louisiana and Texas Environmental Operations teams.
- Prepare and submit appropriate water permit applications for Entergy’s Louisiana and Texas operations, including NPDES permit renewal and modification applications.
- Prepare and submit appropriate Notice of Intent forms associated with stormwater regulatory requirements for Entergy’s Louisiana and Texas operations and, as necessary, coordinate the development of site-specific Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans.
- Serve as a liaison between Entergy and Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) staff regarding water related matters.
- Monitor environmental laws and regulations for changes that may impact Entergy work practices and assist in developing regulatory compliance strategies. Provide guidance and support to key internal stakeholders regarding environmental issues. Be thoroughly familiar with site specific environmental permits and plans.
- Perform other environmental duties and special projects as assigned.
- Communicating issues by presentations and writing and distributing concise, timely and accurate summaries, reviewing routine reports for project management and leadership, and negotiating with state/federal agencies on the Company’s behalf to arrive at a favorable solution.
- Participate as a team member of the Environmental system outage emergency operations and restoration organization for major storm events. Provide management and oversight of emergency environmental permitting for construction efforts.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
B.S. Degree in environmental studies, engineering or a science-related field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
- Analyst, III: 4+ years of experience handling environmental compliance activities
- Senior Analyst: 6+ years of experience handling environmental compliance activities
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Experience working within State and Federal environmental permitting and regulatory programs. Ability to understand and communicate complex Rules/Regulations. Ability to build/maintain effective relationships with regulatory agencies and external peers is a must. Ability to manage multiple projects to successful completion is required. Experience with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook. Excellent communication, leadership, and writing skills and the ability to work effectively in customer oriented and team driven assignments. Working knowledge of Clean Water Act. Familiarity with Clean Air Act, Oil Pollution Act, and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act would be a benefit.
