IT Consultant - DMS/OMS Ops

Postion Purpose:

This role provides support for real time specific applications for the business unit.  The primary responsibility is to provide operational model maintenance and support of Entergy’s DMS/OMS system.

 

Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

  • Provide operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available
  • Perform the Model Management process to update the network operations model
  • Identify and make changes required in the Model Manager Configuration
  • Use the Substation Editor tool to convert SCADA displays into Substation internal models containing network topology and equipment parameters not found in GIS models
  • Support effort to identify GIS Adapter model deficiencies and recommend QA/QC routines to support team
  • Review Validation messages and correct errors as needed
  • Frequently review GIS, SCADA, Customer, and Crew datasets
  • Perform periodic maintenance related to modeling datasets and secure missing data elements
  • Assist the Engineers with troubleshooting errors during model update process
  • Effectively communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing
  • Provide an interface with software vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party systems
  • Provide project and vendor oversight and facilitate communications with other internal organizations including, but not limited to compliance, security, legal and procurement
  • Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system wide development plans to ensure the System Business Unit needs are met
  • Analyze user processes and requirements to identify, design and implement process improvements
  • Participate in the team 24 hour on-call rotation

 

Experience:

  • 4+ years’ experience (or 3 years w/advanced degree) of relevant technology delivery with Subject Matter Expertise for Distribution or Operations Technology
  • Strong track record of relevant technology delivery
  • Design, development and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements
  • Strong understanding of client business needs and objectives
  • Other position that would support the development and progression into this position would include the following:  IT Consultant or IT Specialist, SR

 

Critical Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment, including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to support real-time systems
  • Knowledge of the operation of the electric power and/or distribution systems
  • Understanding of GIS and network topology concepts and structures
  • Ability to support cyber security activities such as, system hardening, patch management, and configuration management
  • Ability to support of fraud and computer forensics research

Minimum Educational Background and Physical Requirements Required to perform Job:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or related technical degree or Equivalent Experience
