Job Summary:

Responsible for management and execution of assigned programs within the IT portfolio including the successful delivery of interdependent projects.  This role provides direction to the Project Managers assigned to the projects within the program and resolves or escalates issues timely that affect these projects and/or the program.  Provides management insight into the assigned programs and how the status of those programs affects business and operational goals.  Manages relationships with and effectively delivers appropriate communication to executive leadership, key stakeholders and steering committees.  Actively manages both internal and vendor resources as they impact the overall program.  Ensures performance expectations for scope, schedule, cost and commitments are met for the program and alignment with project delivery system processes is maintained. 

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage ongoing and upcoming programs within the IT portfolio
  • Develop program vision and business value; communicate benefits and ensure realization
  • Understand stakeholder needs, manage expectations, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver business value
  • Develop business cases and initiate projects to align with departmental strategy
  • Manage programs to meet scope, budget, and schedule commitments and maintain communication channels to provide IT and customer stakeholders with insight into the programs and its status
  • Maintain awareness and oversight of project activities to ensure a timely resolution of project execution issues, including changes in scope, quality/reliability issues, and resource constraints.
  • Manage to both program/project performance (e.g., delivery on commitments, quality, responsiveness, reliability, service levels) and financial performance (e.g., business case) expectations.
  • Use data and analytical skills to make decisions related to the program
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that activities, issues, and risks are tracked and escalated timely, as necessary
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and mentoring to Project Managers assigned to projects within the program; manage vendor resources to ensure work is completed on time and to quality standards; build relationships, delegate to and empower team members, and collaborate with different functions in the organization
  • Maintain awareness and oversight of projects to ensure compliance with Entergy’s IT PMO policies and procedures and where applicable, additional alignment with Capital Project’s Project Delivery processes

 

Minimum Education needed:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or Computer Science or related work experience. Master's degree is a plus.

 

Minimum Experience needed:

IT Program Manager: 3+ years’ experience leading larger scaled projects and/or programs; experience delivering projects in a highly outsourced environment. 

 

IT Program Manager Sr: 8+ years’ experience including leading larger scaled programs with high levels of visibility and complexity; experience delivering projects in a highly outsourced environment. 

 

    • Experience managing Information Technology capital projects is a plus
    • Technical understanding of IT and/or systems operations
