POSITION PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for the creation, maintenance, updating and analysis of person-hour and cost loaded schedules for projects and programs using Primavera (P6 or higher) software. The position is also responsible for ensuring all scheduling requirements are implemented and adhered to for all schedule-based needs for the appropriate level of management and oversight are met.

 

Individual uses critical thinking techniques that are applied to project planning process and across multiple projects where necessary.  The Scheduler makes sure projects have schedule, scope and risk controls implemented in accordance with Project Delivery Standard and in line with the requirements of Entergy processes. Additionally, the individual will provide Entergy Management with quality, forward looking data and reporting.

 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop all fully resource loaded, and cost loaded project and program level schedules and Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), integrated with all applicable vendors’ schedules in accordance with Entergy’s Project Delivery Standard (PDS), in alignment with Entergy’s Stage Gate Process and as consistent with project/program specific contract and scope requirements
  • Establish, maintain and report baseline and current schedule status in efforts to communicate clear, accurate and objective project and program progress updates
  • Analyze and report anticipated and current schedule status for communication to proactively focus management’s attention of known or potential areas of concern or risk
  • Possess superior planning and scheduling experience using the critical path method (CPM) and be able to set up basic cash flow reports required by the management team.
  • Exercise independent and professional judgment in solving schedule problems and coordinating resolution. Perform detailed baseline variance analysis of project cost and schedule performance and present the analysis to management with recommendations
  • Attend project risk meetings/workshops and work with risk personnel to incorporate mitigation and contingency funds into schedule.  Perform Schedule QRA as required for complex, time critical, projects
  • Use the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Dictionary, estimate, and budget data to create the WBS in P6 to include the incorporation of scope items, budget, spend plan, and setting of WBS Earned Value settings
  • Responsible for scheduling and dependency management within and across his/her assigned portfolios
  • Interfaces with Project Manager/Project Leads to gather data and adjust scheduling parameters
  • Collaborates with the Project Manager, Controller and applicable vendors for the alignment and forecasting of project financials based on actual cost and schedule performance as reflected in the project schedule
  • Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas
  • Conduct analysis to determine alternative courses of action or recovery on slipped schedules
  • Proactive communication of scheduling impacts to major milestones and critical path activities in accordance with the project/program timeline commitments

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum experience and education required

IT Scheduler I: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information and Technology, MIS, or Business and 0-2 years of scheduling experience is required, or in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree 1+ years of scheduling or project management experience is required

 

IT Scheduler II: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information and Technology, MIS, or Business and 2+ years of scheduling experience is required, or in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree 3+ years of scheduling or project management experience is required

 

IT Scheduler IlI: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information and Technology, MIS, or Business and 4+ years of scheduling experience is required, or in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree 5+ years of scheduling or project management experience is required

 

Knowledge skills and abilities:

  • SME Level of proficiency and extensive experience with Primavera Scheduling Software and other project management tools (level of proficiency and experience will determine Scheduler Level assignment)
  • High degree of computer literacy including advanced knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and the remainder of the MS Office suite.
  • Solid understanding of Project Management and Project Management Office
  • Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent researching, decision-making and organizational skills are required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
  • Work independently and follows through on assignments with minimal direction while keeping the team informed
  • Possess a mastery of basic/generic data skills (tools & concepts)
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to data protection and other guidelines where appropriate 
  • Capital project management experience with project controls (scheduling) focus
  • Complex Problem Solving -- identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions

 

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required for the position

PMI-SP and/or PMP certification is a plus

Primavera P6 certification is a plus
