Job Summary/Purpose:
This position is part of the Gas Supply Team withing EMO’s Fossil Fuel Supply organization and will primarily be responsible for natural gas procurement, pipeline coordination, strategy development/implementation and will also support activities related to scheduling, reporting and analysis.
This position requires a high level of real-time communication and coordination within a group of fuel purchasers, as well as across several other functional groups responsible for the reliable operations. This position will require working before/after regular office hours including some holidays and weekends.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the purchasing and management of natural gas for Entergy’s natural gas powered generation, including optimization of contracts to provide reliable, economic fuel supply
- Develop and implement long-term strategy for the natural gas portfolio, including but not limited to storage, transport, and hedging optimization
- Ensure trade activity is accurately captured, reported and settled through close coordination with internal teams and external suppliers
- Deep understanding of pipeline infrastructure, supply/demand fundamentals, and have robust supplier/pipeline relationships
- Actively work with stakeholders across business functions to identify, evaluate and optimize new opportunities
- Understand supply/demand, current and emerging market conditions, and power plant operations
- Communicate and present performance metrics and operational developments to senior management and key stakeholders. Develop methods to improve daily operation processes and performance measurement.
- Support internal/external audits, Rate Cases, RFI’s and Regulatory Filings for cost recovery. Support back office, accounting and plant operations by ensuring accuracy of fuel related data.
Minimum Requirements:
Minimum education required of the position
- BS/BA with a preference in a technical field such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics or Energy field
Minimum experience required of the position
- Fuel Supply Rep I: 0-2 years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
- Fuel Supply Rep II: 2-4 years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
- Fuel Supply Rep III: 4-6 years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
- Fuel Supply Rep Sr.: 6-8 years of Fuel purchasing ,scheduling or related experience
- Fuel Supply Rep Sr Staff: 8+ years of Fuel purchasing, scheduling or related experience
- Desired: 2-4 years of work experience with a preference for previous experience within the energy industry, operations or commercial transactions
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize, while meeting deadlines
- Detailed oriented and possess excellent organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Work/Excel/Access/PowerPoint)
- Experience with fuel procurement within MISO is preferred
- Preferred: Previous scheduling and/or operations experience
