JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

This position provides IT services and support of the Real-Time Systems (RTS) utilized by Entergy Transmission, Distribution, Outage Journey, System Planning (SPO), Power Generation, and Utility Operations in Operations Technology (OT) applications.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide EMCS operational support, ensuring production systems and devices are online and available; this includes non-business hours on-call support
  • Provide and maintain real time EMCS systems application availability, ensuring that applications are active and operating as defined in any Service Level Agreements
  • Provide support for OT EMCS Systems (Advanced Distribution Management, Generation Management, Transmission/Energy Management, Gas Distribution and Pipeline)
  • Initiate vendor communication to address OT system issues
  • Manage support for critical infrastructure systems, in accordance with Change Management policies and procedures
  • Analyze, develop, and implement solutions for system enhancements; Conduct a wide range of quality control tests and analysis to ensure that software meets or exceeds specified standards and end-user requirements
  • Provide an interface with software vendors for discussion, consultation, problem solving and best upgrade practices on the 3rd party systems 
  • Perform necessary investigation, analysis, and evaluation to determine project feasibility
  • Develop procedures for the solution of complex and difficult problems or systems with a high level of reliability and execution speed
  • Ensure the development of computer and information system plans that capitalize on the installed technology base and prudently employ new technology
  • Provide project and vendor oversight and facilitate communications with other internal organizations including, but not limited to compliance, security, legal and procurement
  • Analyze user processes and requirements to identify potential improvements
  • Communicate technical information, concepts, and ideas verbally and in writing
  • Participate in the team 24 hour on-call rotation

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering or related technical degree or equivalent experience; Master’s Degree is a plus.

 

Minimum experience required of the position

  • IT Specialist - Sr: 4+ years' experience of relevant technology delivery for Operational Technology (OT) real-time systems.
  • IT Consultant: 6+ years’ experience of relevant technology delivery with Subject Matter Expertise for Operational Technology (OT) real-time systems
  • Design, development and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements
  • Database Administration – experience with development, testing, and operating databases

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Ability to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment, including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to support real-time systems
  • Ability to support cyber security activities such as, system hardening, patch management, and configuration management
  • Knowledge of security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments
