JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Performance Monitoring and Analytics Center (PMAC) Process Owner is responsible for identifying and supporting the development of applications and processes in support of the PMAC’s charter. This role will focus on the optimization of Entergy’s generating assets along with the integration of emerging new technologies into the PMAC’s portfolio of responsibilities. The position will supervise a selection of Engineers and Analysts in the pursuit of new tools and programs to serve the fleet.
The PMAC organization is responsible for gathering, tracking, and utilizing real-time analytics including Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications that centrally monitors fleet-wide performance, maintenance, and operations. The objective of the team is to improve operations and drive efficient maintenance practices to support opportunities to lower production costs, continuous improvement, and unit reliability. Assist in development of root-cause analysis (RCAs) for plant failures. Participate in equipment assessment process to determine the condition of equipment. The Analyst supports all programs, work processes, training, and communication required to support the overall monitoring of various Entergy’s generation resources. This position will be in the Woodlands, Texas. The SMART Operations organization includes remote operations, commercial asset management, and Engineering & Technical Services.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support ROCC/PMAC team with PGEN operational data management and monitoring systems.
- Be a leader in PI Vision display design and implementation related to performance analytics and equipment health.
- Design and implementation of Combustion turbine Performance analytics.
- Design and implementation of a Renewables Performance Management Program.
- Supervise a team of Engineers and Analysts utilizing data to improve operational efficiencies, maintenance, budget, planning and avoided costs by optimizing operational processes and detecting and preventing equipment failures that might have been unforeseen without the methodical gathering and understanding of data.
- Generate, review, distribute routine reports on operational information relating to plant operating conditions, equipment health, generation capability, etc.
- Communicate and investigate issues with data quality, instrumentation, and operating equipment.
- Develop, maintain, and support in-house tool development for analysis of PGEN business and operational targets.
- Contribute to the development of processes and procedures for data management, tool development, testing, and delivery.
- The candidate should be able to operate in a team environment with other personnel, departments, and organizations, provide assistance on various tasks that fall under the SMART Operations umbrella of responsibility. The candidate must be able to learn new processes and programs quickly and seek opportunities to improve their efficiency and effectiveness. The candidate should also have strong analytical abilities, as well as time management and organizational skills.
- The position requires interface with Power Generation leadership, plant management and other operational personnel, as well as other business units, including Finance, Supply Chain and System Planning Organization (SPO). The candidate should have the ability to interact at all levels.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum education required of the position:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business-related field required or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Math, Finance, Computer Science or Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Control Systems). Or in lieu of degree, 6+ years of professional experience in technical analysis, IT data systems, power generation control systems, etc.
Minimum experience required of the position:
- At least 8 years of professional experience.
- Preferred:
- 8+ years in Power Generation operations and/or maintenance experience in CCGT or Legacy (drum type, supercritical)
- Experience working in remote monitoring & diagnostics centers, central control centers, fleet management centers, etc.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
- Analytical skill set with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PI Vision, Power BI.
- Preferred:
- Experience with OIS PI, PI Vision, PI AF
- Experience with Power BI
- Experience with EtaPro or other thermal performance tools
- Experience with GE Smart Signal software or other advanced pattern recognition tools
- Experience with Predictive Maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, Thermography, oil analysis, motor testing)
- Experience with energy market operations or economic modeling
- Experience with IT/OT systems
- Experience with Python/SQL programming language, or ability to learn.
- An analytical and continuous improvement mid-set.
- A strategic thinker that utilizes data and analytics to drive improved asset operations and maintenance in a changing environment.
- Ability to perform complex analysis from a large volume of data and deliver superior results. Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with coding language and application development, or interest in learning
- Basic understanding of competitive power markets (e.g., MISO, SPP)
