JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Manages projects and tasks related to regulatory activities and strategic initiatives. This role will play an integral part in System Planning and Operations (SPO) participation in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) Stakeholder process related to regulatory or market policy issues as well as participation in a wide-range of regulatory filings and proceedings as well as new strategic initiatives.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Actively participate in Health and Safety initiatives and make safety the top priority
  • Uphold the Code of Entegrity by making ethical business decisions and choices
  • Manage aspects of SPO’s involvement in the MISO Stakeholder process and Jurisdictional Regulatory issues:
    • Develop and maintain a working knowledge base of existing and emerging rules and regulations
    • Participate in MISO Stakeholder meetings and identify potential impacts and opportunities for further involvement
    • Coordinate and drive action or project completion with applicable internal and external groups
    • Develop and maintain a network of resources both internal and external to achieve SPO objectives
    • Perform detailed analysis on an array of topics to include but not limited to aspects of the MISO Market including Day Ahead and Real Time (DART) Market and the Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) Market
    • Be prepared to communicate and present on issues and topics across the organization or to stakeholder groups outside of the organization
  • Identify emerging regulatory and market issues and other SPO Strategic Initiatives and coordinate and complete projects to deliver value to the Entergy Operating Companies (EOCs)
  • Take a personal stake in development of other team members both in knowledge and skill development
  • Model effective teamwork through inclusion by leveraging the diversity of your team to accomplish organizational goals

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

7+ years

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Ability to work safely at all times, and observe and coach safe practices in others
  • Ability to follow all compliance requirements and work within compliance guidelines and uphold the Code of Entegrity by making ethical business decisions and choices
  • Initiative to work independently and adept at working on team assignments with other personnel, departments, and organizations.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in all Microsoft toolkit applications.
  • Capacity to adapt to changing work priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize work on multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to lead and drive projects through to completion

 

Desired skills and abilities

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities applicable to the position include:

  • Knowledge and experience in energy and electricity markets, specifically MISO:
    • Day Ahead and Real-Time (DART) Market including Ancillary Services Market
    • Capacity (Planning Resource Auction) Market
    • FTR Market
    • Power/Fuel/Commodities markets experience
  • Knowledge and experience in Jurisdictional Regulatory proceedings
    • Federal regulatory bodies: Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC),
    • State/city regulatory bodies: Arkansas Public Service Commission (APSC), City Council of New Orleans (CCNO), Louisiana Public Service Commission (LPSC), Mississippi Public Service Commission (MPSC), Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT)
  • Technical proficiency in Energy Market analysis software such as Yes Energy Suite, or others
  • Advanced technical proficiency in Excel including VBA programming
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical modeling
  • Advanced proficiency in PowerPoint
