JOB PURPOSE
Entergy Power Through is an energy resilience service that offers sustainable backup generation solutions to commercial and industrial customers at a discounted rate. The discount is created by offering generator power to the grid during peak demand times. We partner with external Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) partners, manufacturers, and internal teams to create a unique offering for our customers.
The Project Manager will ensure that the Power Through team meets the company’s strategic objectives by ensuring exceptional customer experience for product delivery, project implementation, design, permitting, material procurement, construction, commissioning and customer acceptance. This individual will be responsible for the development and the implementation of EPC projects, processes, procedures associated with project and construction management. This person will also support the development and implementation of sales, operations, maintenance, monitoring, and control processes, procedures for sales management, and asset management. This individual is responsible for supporting sales growth and long-term operations of Entergy Power Through customer site generator solutions in all five Operating Companies from its first year of operation onward to reach safety, sales, installation, customer satisfaction, and operational goals under the leadership of the Senior Manager of Power Through Operations. This person will work with the Business Operations Sales and Partnership Manager to support proposal development and project execution for Power Through engineering, procurement and construction projects from front end development of technical solution to the award of a contract, as well as from project kickoff through to final project acceptance by the customer.
This individual will succeed in this role by driving project development and execution from concept to completion by working with Power Through customers, leadership, employees, contractors, consultants, vendors, manufactures and cross functional teams across the enterprise. This individual will work directly with the Power Through Operations team to develop and implement project management, asset management, work management, corrective maintenance, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, operations monitoring and control, processes, procedures and systems to meet overall Power Through Operations objectives. This individual will work collaboratively with the Power Through team and key stakeholders to support sales, marketing, operations, MISO registration, business and revenue modelling to meet overall Power Through Business Operations objectives. This person will work with the Director, Sr Staff Analyst, and Sr Managers of Business Operations to establish, monitor, analyze, report and drive business plans, project portfolio, financial targets, customer satisfaction and business performance metrics to ensure strong operational excellence in the implementation of sales, installation, operations, maintenance, and service.
Job Summary
The Project Manager will ensure the implementation of Power Through customer site generator project portfolios and initiatives as defined by Power Through business plans, business processes, and performance metrics. This individual will provide technical and project leadership and be a single point of accountability on both proposal development and project execution for engineering, procurement and construction projects. The Project Manager will support the projects from the front-end development of technical solutions for a customer through to the award of a contract, as well as from project kick-off through to final project acceptance by the owner. This individual will establish, monitor, analyze and report project portfolio performance metrics to achieve predictability, certainty, and efficiency in the management and delivery of projects and initiatives meeting safety, quality, customer satisfaction and financial objectives.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities for this position will drive operational business results by working with Power Through customers, leadership, employees, contractors, consultants, vendors, manufacturers and cross functional teams across the enterprise to,
- Provide oversight, management and leadership of all Power Through Projects from conception to completion with focus on safety, customer service, project execution, commissioning, financial and operational excellence
- Lead development of scope of work documents for EPC contracts as well as sub-contracts including in-depth project scopes, schedule deliverables, cost estimates, project execution plan and baselines. Lead review and approval of contract documents for technical, engineering and construction requirements and provide support for technical contract negotiations.
- Ensure projects awarded are successfully executed within the project scope, requested lead time, with the highest safety and quality standards, and within the assigned budget. Provide technical, field engineering, construction and contractor oversight, management and leadership during project execution phase, whether performed by EPC, sub-contractor, suppliers or Entergy.
- Provide leadership, management and oversight of field construction and labor to ensure safe, quality, on-time, and within-budget delivery of projects that meets customer and company expectations. Ensure inspection and oversight of all projects to monitor compliance with all applicable safety, environmental codes, and regulations. Ensure projects are constructed to Customer and Entergy standards, specifications and expectations.
- Serve as customer-facing representative of Entergy Power Through team for both business development and project execution activities. Ensure effective and professional communication between internal and external customers and project teams. Elevate issues that arise throughout the project life cycle to which resolution cannot be accomplished by the project team to Power Through leadership. Lead on-time delivery in accordance with contract and safety requirements using detailed schedule management process and tools. Follow-up, coordinate and expedite with customers, contractors, operations, engineering and purchasing personnel.
- Manage costs and contracts by working closely with Finance, Sr Staff Analyst. Sr Lead Engineer and Sr Manager, Power Through Operations for accurate estimating, forecasting and monitoring cost, contingencies and profit. Identify, manage and mitigate risks to ensure the success of the projects. Lead resolution of technical, specification, and contract issues with EPC, suppliers and stakeholders. Promote a focus on value engineering and champion the development of cost-effective designs and project solutions. Manage and eliminate increases in scope not required by customer or contract. Negotiate with vendors, subcontractors and customers scope changes, cost adders, and any variance to the original project scope. Negotiate terms of agreements, draft and issue contracts and change requests.
- Ensure review and approval of conceptual designs and basic engineering for greenfield and brownfield engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects including generators, transfer switches, transformers, relays, controls, electric distribution, utility interconnection, communication and control systems.
- Ensure review and approval of engineering and design work of EPC and third-party engineers. Ensure review and approval of technical plans and documentation for technical assessment of electrical designs and systems, proper for load calculations, power flow models, short circuit analysis, relay and protective coordination.
- Ensure review and approval of design drawings, diagrams, documents, generator utility interconnection, equipment and material sizing, commissioning and controls during design, construction and commissioning phases to ensure EPC compliance with Entergy standards, codes and regulations.
Additional Responsibilities for this position will be supporting and driving Power Through projects and initiatives by working with Power Through customers, leadership, employees, contractors, consultants, vendors, manufactures and cross functional teams across the enterprise to,
- Support development and implementation of processes and solutions to ensure a seamless customer experience as it relates to the engineering, design, procurement, construction, interconnection to the electric grid, operations and asset management, maintenance and financial and budget management of the Power Through product in all of Entergy’s operating companies.
- Support development and implementation of Project Management Processes, IT Systems, Controls, and Methods to optimize process efficiency, project delivery, cost management, risk management, and portfolio management. Ensure Power Through Project Management is aligned and integrated with Entergy Stage Gate and Project Management Processes to optimize time, cost and financial efficiency and manage/mitigate risk.
- Support development and implementation of Supply Chain processes to identify, evaluate, establish and managing strategic business alliances and contractual relationships with generator manufacturers, local and diverse installers, and asset managers in order to ensure safety and reliability for our customers, our environment and our communities.
- Support development and implementation of Entergy engineering, procurement, and construction to ensure the delivery of customer sited generation services safely, with quality, on-time and at the lowest possible cost.
- Support the development, integration and implementation of Power Through Customer Site Generators into GIS mapping, grid interconnection, supervisory control, monitoring and data acquisition processes and systems to ensure the effective operation of customer sited generation safely to maximize operations and grid value.
- Support development and implementation of Entergy Power Through Asset Management, Corrective, Preventative and Predictive Maintenance strategies, processes, procedures and systems to ensure the Power Through assets provided customer service and operations throughout the life of generator assets.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related field or equivalent experience.
Preferred: Master’s in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or advanced degree in Business Management.
Minimum experience required of the position:
- Project Manager, Sr: 4 years of experience in Project Management, Construction Management, Electric Utility Industry, or related field.
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience in Distributed Generation, Distribution, Transmission or the utility industry
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Functional Knowledge: Requires functional understanding of concepts and principles within own discipline and knowledge of:
- Key electrical, civil and mechanical engineering concepts, codes, diagrams, drawings and documents such as general, piping, instrumentation and single line diagrams
- Key field engineering, safety, quality and commercial construction management practices and processes.
- Electrical components including generators, transfer switches, transformers, relays, control, metering, customer and utility electrical systems.
- Natural gas generators and associated equipment, technologies and applications
Business Expertise: Applies in-depth understanding of how own discipline integrates within the functional knowledge of:
- PMI Project Management processes, practices and principles.
- Managing multiple projects including field construction activities, labor, multiple budgets and schedules
- Contract management processes such as bid, award, negotiation, invoice and change management control
- Project Risk Management and ability to anticipate events and develop adaptive strategies and/or remedies.
- Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves complex technical, operational, and organizational problems.
- Knowledge of experience with Stage Gate Lite and Stage Gate Processes
