Job Summary/Purpose
Manages large power plant projects or programs of projects that are typically $250M dollars and above. Manages the development and delivery ofa capital project or program to which he or she is assigned and focuses on the achievement of project cost and schedule objectives while achievingexcellence in the areas of project safety and quality. Works directly with the Project Team to ensure project is delivered with cost and schedulecertainty. Manages risks and risk management issues to ensure risks are identified and mitigated. Works directly with Capital Projects ProjectControls group to ensure alignment with Stage Gate Process and to ensure that proper project controls are being implemented; to ensure costs aremanaged; change control is established and controlled; and that contingency is properly controlled. Provides direct management and support toProject Team members throughout the project lifecycle. Works closely with business unit contractor representatives to achieve capital projectobjectives.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Promotes safe behavior and adherence to the safety rules on the project. Leads the project team to establish leading indicators and proactiverequirements to ensure safety is considered in all aspects of design and implementation for contractors, Entergy project team members, and theend user. Ensures contract scope of work includes safety deliverables/requirements as needed.
- Defines the project organization structure required for the project and identify the technical skills required to achieve project goals. Works withthe appropriate Entergy management to assignment appropriately skilled individuals to the Project Team. Prepares contract and approvesrequisitions, change orders, etc. and process invoices. Fulfills role of ""Contract Manager"" or as Owner's representative as otherwise defined inthe Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, project contracts, and administer contracts. Issues formal correspondence toContractors.
- Leads the project team to develop and execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensures thatteam members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project through the Entergy Stage Gate Process (SGP) andcoordinate activities to meet the requirements of Entergy's SGP and associated deliverables (estimates, schedules, gates, deliverables, etc.).Oversees the project team in the development of project deliverables. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groupsengaged in project work. Delivers projects with cost and schedule certainty; manages and controls costs; manages risk by identifying andmitigating risks.
- Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations to management. Prepares andissues status reports as required. Identifies, makes timely decisions and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact projectperformance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership that are outside the authority of capability of the Senior Project Manager to resolve.
- Coordinates with all functional departments as required to achieve the requirements of the applicable corporate standards and to achieve projectbudget and timeline including CC&A, and Supply Chain. Monitors contractor performance in the area of project safety, schedule, cost, quality ofwork and compliance with contractual requirements.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required of the position
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
10 years of relevant experience minimum.
Preferred experience with project controls.
Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position
Desired Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
