JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
Coordinate and develop long term strategic decisions as a member of Fossil Fuel Supply team which is responsible for developing and executing plans for procuring and delivering fossil fuel to the existing and proposed Entergy Utility power plants, as well as Entergy’s LDCs. Lead the internal approval processes necessary to execute fuel strategies, as well as support any external regulatory approvals and serve as a company witness, as needed. Document, present, communicate and execute developed strategies.The primary focus of position is on long term strategic decisions (versus daily operational decision making) related to natural gas and natural gas transportation; however, responsibilities may include coal, coal transportation, fuel oil and renewable emission credits as well.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops long term strategic fuel supply and transportation plans for existing, developing, and proposed power plants and LDCs; work with existing team members to leverage their regional knowledge/experience of fuel markets into long term strategic plans.
- Assesses current fuel supply options, identifies fuel deliverability or reliability risks, and proposes alternatives to mitigate such risks.
- Develops and supports site assessment analysis of potential power generation.
- Keeps up to date with fossil fuel markets (primarily natural gas), develops an informal point of view of current and future market conditions. Creates and presents regional fuel analysis to internal audiences, including interpreting data, identifying changes in short and long-term trends, conveying condensed market research, explaining regional fuel movements, etc.
- Project Manages fuel related initiatives, coordinates timelines, discussions, and direction both internally (with Operating Companies, Capital Projects, Power Generation, legal, credit & risk, regulatory, etc.) and externally (with potential counterparties).
- Leads internal approval processes, including the development and presentation of documents, necessary to execute fuel strategies and support the external regulatory approval process (i.e. write testimony, respond to RFIs, and serve as company witness).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum education required of the position:
BS/BA with a preference in a technical field such as Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Economics (MBA preferred)
Minimum experience required of the position
7+ years Professional Experience
At least 5 years of commercial experience with fossil fuels (beneficial if experience is within the TX, LA, MS and AR regions).
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Detailed oriented with excellent organizational and presentation skills.
Analytical, quantitative, and able to see the big picture and draw conclusions.
Strong interpersonal, leadership and analytical skills.
Extensive knowledge of the natural gas markets.
Experienced in project management is preferred.
