Job summary/purpose:
This role manages IT services, support, and vendor oversight of the Real-Time Systems (RTS) and ISO applications used by Entergy’s Power Delivery, System Planning (SPO), Power Generation, and Utility Operations business units.

 

Primary Duties & Areas of Responsibility:

  • Leads technical, administrative, and operational oversight and support for the OT (Operational Technology) Generation & LBA SCADA Operations team by ensuring Entergy’s control centers have accurate and timely data models (SCADA, Network, Generation, ICCP) to support real-time monitoring and control of the bulk-electric system and natural gas networks.
  • This role has programmatic ownership responsibilities as assigned by the IT Manager and site-specific duties to ensure high availability of site OT systems.
  • Ensures high availability of production systems and devices.
  • Coordinates 24/7 system support of OT systems via call outs.
  • Provide subject matter expertise as needed to facilitate the timely completion of projects and tasks.
  • Conduct system performance monitoring related to OT system ownership.
  • Coordinate system backups; prepare and execute disaster recovery plans for critical site systems.
  • Manage assigned portfolio. Participate in benchmarking and self-assessments to improve process and system performance.
  • Performs other duties specific to site type including serving as an advocate for safe operations and continuous improvement and implementing the Corrective Action Program.
  • Oversee interaction between Generation & LBA SCADA Operations team and the groups below:
    • SCADA Modelers
    • Substation Services
    • Real-time Operators (TCC, LBA, EMO, and Gas Dispatch)
    • Power Generation plants
    • MISO (real-time support)
    • Neighboring utilities
  • Provide project and vendor oversight and facilitate communications with other internal organizations including, but not limited to compliance, security, legal and procurement.
  • Conduct business analytical studies to integrate business needs into system wide development plans to ensure the System Business Unit needs are met
  • Analyze user processes and requirements to identify, design and implement process improvements.

Minimum Educational background needed:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or related technical degree or Experience Equivalent thereto

 

Minimum Experience needed:

  • Two to four years with strong record of relevant technology delivery with Subject Matter Expertise for Operational Technology and/or real-time systems.
  • Experience and strong skills in interfacing senior level managers and the ability to communicate technical issues to non-technical senior managers.
  • Strong track record of relevant technology delivery.
  • Design, development and testing of real time systems applications and enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of client business needs and objectives.
  • Other position that would support the development and progression into this position would include the following: Solutions Architect, SR; Engineer, SR; or IT Consultant, SR.

 

 

Critical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities needed:

  • Prior, demonstrated experience leading a team to deliver IT services
  • Hands on experience in developing and implementing IT operational policy and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast pace and dynamic environment, including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to support real-time systems
  • Knowledge of business continuity and recovery planning
  • Knowledge of security controls testing, security audits, and security assessments
  • Knowledge of the operation of the electric power transmission and/or generation systems
  • Knowledge of MISO RTO roles (Balancing Authority, Reliability Coordinator, and Market Operator) and MISO Market Participant roles
