Job Summary/Purpose:

This position focuses on Middleware Application Management and is responsible for supporting leadership, providing Project delivery and operational support, Enhancement, maintenance, and break/fix (Level 2) for a defined set of Entergy applications in Middleware area supporting all Business Units. The primary focus of this role will be to aid in delivery of Capital initiatives and maintenance of  Entergy’s Tibco environments, Tibco applications, EMS, BW, BWCE, BE, Mashery, Tibco ActiveSpaces, Container environments and applications. This role is responsible to ensure delivery of high-quality work products and enable / ensure that this set of applications meets stated SLAs with emphasis on continuous process improvements. This role will work closely with support teams, external vendors and the relevant project teams to manage all issues related to the applications in the environment. This roll will act as the liaison between the application end users, business users, Project teams, Support team members and IT SDM.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support SDM in providing customer-centric IT; reliable, predictable, cost-effective, and secure service to the customers.
  • Responsible for aiding the delivery of Capital project initiatives involving middleware integration requirements by contributing actively in all phases of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Supporting project technical leadership in planning, execution and release activities. Providing input into formulating solutions to complex integration requirements.
  • Responsible for working with support teams and external vendors to ensure stable operations of assigned applications and the timely resolution of problems, incidents, and service tickets. Conduct root cause analysis of problems and facilitate the resolution of the underlying cause or development of appropriate work-around. Coordinate and/or assist in level 2 (break-fix) support for Entergy's applications via support teams and external vendor.
  • Oversight of Operations support and vendor support in the implementation of new releases, upgrades, Patches, or enhancements. Provide leadership to the support teams (Entergy & Partner) and prioritize the work for the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all project deployment methodologies, internal standards (e.g., Security, Enterprise Architecture (EA)), operational guidelines in support of IT's strategy and organizational objectives, and compliance with Entergy's policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the application availability against stated SLAs and performance expectations. Active management and transparent reporting of application issues, resolutions, and performance to IT leadership.
  • Maintain awareness of the IT roadmap for assigned application platform(s); expected upgrade cycle, end of life support, and operational risks for existing applications.
  • Manage portfolio of assigned applications, including configuration management and licenses. Ensure that existing portfolio conforms to Licensing, Security, and EA standards.
  • Execute the Release & Deployment Management processes. Coordinate with Program Managers and Project/COE leads to ensure seamless transition into production environment. Plan and execute Service Introduction and knowledge transfer from project teams to Operations team. Responsible for risk management and roll-back plans in adherence to stated policies and procedures.

 

Minimum Requirements:

IT Consultant: Bachelor's degree in a related field and 7+ years of experience in supporting middleware-specific project delivery and working knowledge of  managing and supporting production applications is required, OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree 9 + years of experience working with production applications is required.

Advanced degree is a plus.

 

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

  • Knowledge and experience with Tibco suite of products (BW, EMS, APIX, Mashery, MFT, BWCE, BE, ActiveSpaces).
  • Knowledge and experience in advanced application virtualization techniques such as Docker, Kubernetes and their applicability to the Tibco suite of products.
  • Experience in delivery (design, development, testing, release) and support of complex integration architectures.
  • Knowledge in troubleshooting design and operational issues for middleware integrations.
  • Experience managing application support and maintenance functions in an organization or outsourced environment.
  • Ability to leverage and mentor others through technical team leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Customer centric approach and strong data analytical ability.

 

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

Technology certifications are a plus
