JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is an attorney position with the Federal Energy Regulatory Affairs section of the Legal Department of Entergy Services, LLC.  Federal Energy Regulatory Affairs is responsible for providing legal and regulatory services to the electric utility, generation, and power marketing affiliates of Entergy Corporation.  The practice of this attorney will concentrate on regulatory, litigation, and policy matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).  Areas of focus  may include:  transactions subject to Section 203 of the Federal Power Act, rate filings under Section 205 of the Federal Power Act, wholesale power markets and regional transmission organizations, compliance with FERC regulatory requirements and NERC reliability standards, and regulatory litigation.  Depending on level of experience, the attorney will assume lead responsibility for various matters and/or assist the Company’s other in-house regulatory attorneys on various matters.  Among other duties, the attorney will participate in developing legal and strategic advice regarding key business initiatives, implementing these initiatives through FERC proceedings and interactions with FERC Staff, litigating various matters before FERC and appellate courts, advising officers and management on FERC-related matters, and managing internal project teams and outside counsel.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Requirements-Education:

A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school is required.

 

Minimum Requirements-Experience:

Counsel Sr: 6+ years of legal experience involving FERC regulation of the electric industry is mandatory.

Asst General Counsel: 8+ years of legal experience involving FERC regulation of the electric industry is mandatory.

 

Preferred-Experience:  Legal experience involving FERC regulation of the electric utility industry is preferred.  A combination of FERC-related experience and federal/state court litigation or state ratemaking experience may also be considered, provided that such experience is focused on the electric utility industry.  Experience with compliance and enforcement matters will also be considered.

 

Minimum Requirements-Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • License in good standing in a state with a mandatory license requirement
  • Strong academic record or equivalent practice record
  • In-depth knowledge of, and experience with, the electric utility industry
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to quickly learn applicable law in a broad range of areas
  • Strong negotiating skills and the ability to think creatively, strategically, and tactically
  • Good computer research skills
