Job Summary/Purpose
Responsible for using specialized equipment to locate Entergy's underground electric facilities in compliance with the LA Dig Law and doing so in a safe, timely and accurate manner?
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Be a safety champion; obey all safe work procedures, perform daily Hazard Assessments, maintain vehicle inspections, attend all required safety meetings, complete all safety mandated training and report any safety events including near misses.
- Develop and maintain proficiency using the locating equipment, locate underground facilities and mark them in compliance with the LA Dig Law to avoid dig-ins by excavators. Develop and maintain proficiency in using fault finding equipment.
- Develop and maintain proficiency using all ticket management computer-based applications such as GIS and DigTrack and document all locating jobs in these applications.
- Monitor excavation activity in the area and develop and maintain working relationships with these excavators to coordinate work with them in your area.
- Identify and report on discrepancies between underground facilities in the field and those in Entergy's electronic mapping systems. Report damage to Entergy's underground facilities immediately.
- Respond to emergency call outs during duty rotation for the Damage Prevention group. Represent Damage Prevention in the Safety Advisory Board on a rotating basis. Be able to work in a team environment which involves taking on additional work when other areas of overloaded, sharing best practices, and fostering unity and collaboration.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
Good mechanical aptitude and ability to use conductor locating and fault-finding devices, as well as associated computer applications. Ability to communicate with customers, city inspectors, police and fire department officials. Valid driver's license and the ability to operate a company vehicle. Ability to lift 150 lbs. Very good interpersonal skills. The ability to interpret construction drawings and Entergy's underground system drawings. Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities. Ability to work well under pressure. Must be self-motivated and a team player. Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and can mitigate the hazard. Ability to maintain company equipment properly and safeguard assets. Ability to meet and converse with customers in a pleasant and tactful manner and understand the importance of delivering high level customer service. Ability to recognize process improvement opportunities and willingness to implement them. Desired: Working knowledge of underground electric systems; Working knowledge of AM/FM/GIS graphical systems; Working knowledge of the DigTrack ticket management application; Working knowledge of computer and communication applications; Working knowledge of service territory; Experience in customer service / customer contact roles.
