Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro and petroleum coke plants, with total engineering capacity of over 18,500 megawatts and is building or acquiring more than 3,000 megawatts of new natural gas generation to join its 30,000 megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities.

 

*This position can be filled as a Fossil Maintenance Planner I, II, or Sr depending on the skills and qualifications of the selected candidate*

 

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:

The Outage Planner will work closely with Maintenance, Operations, Safety, and Engineering to create and develop work plans for facility shutdowns. The Outage Planner should have a thorough understanding of scheduling and development of both long-term and short-term condition-based shutdown plans. The outage planner will ensure plans are centered around safety and reliability.

 

The Outage Planner is also responsible for developing assigned offline work requests from 'Planning Required' to 'Ready to Schedule' status in AIMM. This process includes assessing the corrective action needed including job requirements for safety, environmental, unit status, parts, and special support needs. This person will also develop contractor work scopes, including generating contract requisitions, and assisting procurement in soliciting bids to support contractor maintenance planning and execution. This person may also be assigned as a 'Contract Manager' to oversee contract work as needed. The Outage Planner will be required to interface with vendors and warehouse personnel in materials planning. He/She will also interface with Fleet Maintenance to develop maintenance strategies and preventive maintenance tasks that improves reliability and/or reduces unit cost.

 

This position has weekend work requirements and call out responsibilities and will be located in Westlake, La.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Outage Scheduler to prepare, develop, and prioritize work orders to fit time frames required by facility management.
  • Conduct work order risk assessments and manage offline work order backlog that requires facility shutdown to perform the work.
  • Participate in unit shutdowns by working closely with contract partners and Entergy personnel to assist with meeting facility goals and changing work scopes
  • Assures the availability of maintenance part onsite and utilizes necessary resources to properly estimate time required to complete work.
  • Optimizes the use of staging and kitting to maximize worker efficiency and productivity
  • Orders all needed materials for work requests and/or plant support needs
  • Updates equipment condition documents on completion of the work and ensures outage reports are received in a timely manner.
  • Interface with maintenance, operations, engineering, safety, contract partners, and other departments as needed to insure safe, reliable, and cost-effective planning is achieved
  • Closing out contracts and resolving invoice issues as needed.
  • Participating in the accrual and budget development processes as required.
  • Manage and control inventory to ensure SOX policies are enforced.
  • Conduct contractor safety orientations and oversee contractor activities as needed.
  • Actively participate in Plant Safety Committee Meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum education required of the position:

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience

 

Minimum experience required of the position:

  • Fossil Maintenance Planner I: 0-2 years’ experience
  • Fossil Maintenance Planner II: 2-4 years’ experience
  • Fossil Maintenance Planner Sr: 10 years’ experience

 

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position:

  • Practical working knowledge of maintenance techniques of plant systems and components
  • Excellent Passport and AIMM skills
  • Experience in inventory control and management
  • Knowledge of CBO and RMP core processes
  • Proficient knowledge of utilizing internet for researching parts, vendors, and suppliers
  • Experience in coordinating and managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Excellent oral and written skills
  • Desired:
    • Experience in interpreting mechanical and electrical drawings
