Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro and petroleum coke plants, with total engineering capacity of over 18,500 megawatts and is building or acquiring more than 3,000 megawatts of new natural gas generation to join its 30,000 megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities.
JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE:
The Plant Asset Team Leader reports directly to the Plant Manager. They direct, lead, and supervise a team of tech specialist and engineers in a plant environment at a Natural Gas fired Power Plant with plant common equipment, while sharing responsibility for its safe, efficient, compliant, and reliable operation. This position oversees, manages, optimizes and fully implements the Integrated Strategic Planning Process, and Stage Gate Process. Outage oversight responsibilities include both planning and execution phases of outages. This position participates in development of the multi-year tactical and strategic project identification and budgeting processes. This position effectively manages maintenance, operations, and compliance issues to support system needs, evaluates performance of and develops direct reports, maintains high standards of diversity and inclusion, ethics and integrity, and drives continuous improvement by serving as a champion of change.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for safety, compliance, budgeting, reliability, and all other aspects of assigned area of plant
- Provides leadership for the development of direct reports in order to embrace a culture of strong fundamentals to support operations and maintenance
- Embraces and support human performance improvement initiative as it related to shared understanding of excellence, personal-joint accountability, feedback-coaching exchange, etc.
- Assures that plant operations/maintenance personnel comply with safe work practices and processes, comply with plant procedures, and efficiently and effectively operate and maintain the plant equipment
- Ranks and prioritizes reliability and financial risks using data analysis and historical and predictive maintenance information from both internal and external industry sources
- Works with Fleet Maintenance group in overseeing long-range and detailed planning and execution of Power Generation unit outage, including management of cost, schedule and safety processes for outage scope
- Responsible for preparing and planning near-term and strategic budget
- Provides and supports budget/project development and cost control for short range work plans and long-range strategic planning
- Prepares and manages budget in assigned area to leverage the financial process to manage deviations from the approved annual budget
- Supports Operational personnel and collaborates with planning to assign resources which will address emerging operational issues
- Initiates and provides leadership in respect to end-to-end contract management/contractor oversight for routine and outage work
- Staffs and manages routine, planned, emergency, and reserve outages as well as assigned projects
- Develops schedule and budget related to routine maintenance and planned outages
- Interfaces with other members of plant management team to drive resolution of key issues impacting business processes, budget, maintenance strategies, outage scope, schedule and costs for facilities
- Evaluates and champions gap closure actions that are consistent with the company's overall business strategy
- Leads site teams to identify and implement maintenance strategies and funding needs for equipment processes
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external interfaces and key strategic alliance partners
- Maintains an awareness of the latest industry research and practical application to drive continuous improvement
- Provides oversight of NERC Champion to address any compliance for issues plant operations
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Desired:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as engineering or equivalent work experience (e.g., 10 years of power plant experience with at least 5 years of power plant maintenance experience)
Minimum Experience:
- Without technical degree: At least 10 years of power plant experience with at least 5 years of power plant maintenance or operations experience
- With technical degree: At least 5 years of power plant maintenance or operations experience
- Desired: Experience with Combined Cycle Gas Tubine (CCGT) plants
- Desired: Candidates with prior supervisory or other leadership experience
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- History of strong accountability for results
- Knowledge of power plant operating and maintenance practices, equipment maintenance strategies, lockout /tag out and other safety procedures
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with contractors and outside agencies
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with the Microsoft Office suite of applications, and to learn new applications as appropriate
- Ability to build a strong team through demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to actively engage subordinates and other plant personnel to strive for operational and maintenance excellence
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
