Job Summary/Purpose

The focus of this position is to deliver real options in the form of power generation and energy storage projects that support the corporation’s stated sustainability goals of reducing carbon emissions. As required, support the development of large projects or programs of projects. Manage the delivery of projects and/or programs to which he or she is assigned, with a focus on projects that can achieve project cost and schedule objectives while achieving excellence in the areas of project safety and quality. This position is directly responsible for the management and oversight of execution stages of utility scale renewable project execution. This individual is responsible for the assembly and providing leadership needs of his/her cross-functional team, technology understanding and experience, and building an effective relationship with key internal/external individuals-including contractors, where applicable. Manage risks to ensure risks are identified and mitigated.

 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

Develops a powerful project execution team that is focused on delivering power generation and storage projects, that can be executed safely, that enables the enterprise to meet the stated sustainability commitments. Understands the requirements and contributions of critical team positions and that of the key stakeholders.

Leads the project team to execute the Project in accordance with the applicable corporate standards and guidelines. Ensure that team members fulfill the responsibilities as required of their roles. Navigates the project’s execution through the Entergy Stage Gate process and supports the activities in the development stages as required (business case, estimates, schedules, gate review deliverables, etc.). Supports as requested the project team in the development of project deliverables through the internal approval process. Coordinates the activities of project stakeholders and working groups engaged in project work.

Maintains the Project Execution Plan and executes the project in adherence with this plan. Establishes and maintains project execution documentation. Coordinates the efforts of all project participants, including consultants and contractors. Ensures previous projects' Lessons Learned and applicable industry experience is incorporated into the project execution plan. Manages the project in line with the project budget. Ensure project controls are implemented for effectively managing project scope, schedule, quality, cost, cash flow, risk, contracts and communications in accordance with the applicable corporate standard.

Provides clear, timely and accurate project status reports for management. Prepares reports and presentations for management. Prepare and issues status reports as required. Identifies, makes timely decisions, and takes prompt action on project issues that could impact project performance. Promptly communicates issues to the next level of leadership.

Supports the Utility and regulators in project development and viability when requested. Works closely when requested with regulatory functions to support the requirement of receiving the necessary certifications.

Full understanding of the contractual aspects of projects and the need to support the creation of a contracting strategy that can be executed safely, with high quality and acceptable risk allocation – all while delivering cost and schedule certainty and maintaining expected project economic benefits. Support contract negotiations for contracts and fulfill duties as contract manager for contracts in execution as needed.

Promotes safe behavior, in accordance with Company expectations, and adherence to the safety rules on the project.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum education required of the position

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience will be considered. Advanced degree preferred.

Minimum experience required of the position

8+ years

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position

Expert in project management fundamentals. Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology to power generation. This includes applying principles, techniques and procedures to the design, construction, commissioning, and operations of electrical power generating facilities. Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of power generation facilities. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Any certificates, licenses, etc. required of the position

Desired: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification desired.
