JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

The Director of Enterprise Data and Business Intelligence is responsible for leading a team that develops and executes the company’s enterprise wide data strategy to support company’s goals to become the premier utility.  Director of Enterprise Data and Business Intelligence is responsible for delivering overall results from the team which includes:

  1. Business Intelligence Enablement: Enables business units to obtain deeper and more connected insights with less time and effort, to more easily train employees and retain knowledge and to maintain consistent views across the enterprise reports
  2. Advanced Analytics: Provides data support to enable advanced analytics use cases
  3. Information Systems: Provides data solutions to information systems and projects

 

The Director of Enterprise Data and Business Intelligence is responsible for strategy formation, platform selection and maintenance, project prioritization, project execution and change management.  The scope covers all aspects of enterprise from customers, generation, distribution, transmission, corporate service, innovation and employees.  Key elements include data engineering, data governance and business intelligence enablement.

 

The Director of Data is charged with leading the strategy, development, governance, integrity and sustainability of the Enterprise Data Lake and its integrity. They will work closely with the Analytics director which will support future calculated, data drive insights, to push the business forward and develop new opportunities to support our internal and external customers.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Lead the Enterprise Data Organization to deliver value

  • Lead and develop Strategies of the governance of the Data Lake to ensure accessibility and the integrity of the information
  • Source data from across the enterprise, to migrate into the Data Lake with the mindfulness of the strategic roadmap and financial implications of doing so
  • Key workstreams include: Develop data lake, data governance and organizational change management infrastructure, and provide business intelligence enablement
  • Support the Advance Analytics Leader and his/her team to develop advanced perspectives to increase capabilities of the organization
  • Key value adds include: Enablement / insight, direct benefit and lower costs and more efficient solutions described in job summary
  • Key activities include: Supervise and coach the team, set team direction / select and promote most value-added projects
  • Partner closely with Project Managers and Value Managers to promote the delivery timeline of projects and ongoing value realization of delivered products.

 

2. Provide leadership for the Enterprise Data Organization

  • Set team vision and plan to achieve it
  • Lead both technical and business teams to achieve objectives
  • Recruit leaders and team members
  • Set functional roles, and establish performance measures
  • Coach, manage, and mentor the teams to support growth of the individuals and organization
  • Deliver success and grow the team

 

3. Manage internal stakeholders to ensure the success of the Enterprise Data Organization

  • Communicate the vision of the Data Strategy and Organization to the broader Entergy to ensure buy in from senior stakeholders
  • Liaise key stakeholder to ensure buy-ins and value delivery
  • Responsible for providing timely status updates to senior stakeholders to ensure alignment across the enterprise

 

4. Understanding the Customer base to deliver key outcomes:

  • Work with internal customers to understand the needs of different business units and how they will consume/use the data from the Data Lake
  • Support development and execution of the Prioritization strategy to produce quality outcomes for customers and balance Data offerings
  • Interface with key support groups like IT, Enterprise Data and innovation lab (Key String Lab) to secure needed support to deliver value

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, STEM, IT, Economics, Analytics, or related field
  • Preferred Advance Degree in above fields or related field (Master’s or Doctorate)

 

Minimum experience required of the position

  • 8+ years’ experience in end-to-end data management including Data Warehousing, Data lake
  • 3+ years of leading a technology-based team
  • Utility experience is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Capabilities:
    • Strong data-driven analytical skills.
    • Ability to demonstrate and articulate analytical information, capabilities, and opportunities to functional and executive leaders based on a clear understanding of company and strategy and objectives
    • Extensive knowledge with technologies such as Oracle, Informatica, SAP, SQL / NoSQL platforms SAS, SQL, HADOOP, Open Source Data
    • Has background and knowledge of implementing data governance to enable data utilization and democratization
    • Proven track record of creating/maintaining a big-data platform
    • Has in-depth knowledge of various data architecture framework models
    • Proven experience in an Agile + DevOps environments preferred
    • Proven track record of establishing data insights, establishing training and enablement of business units, and solutions while converting them to clear value creation for the organization via Data Lake
