Entergy’s Power Generation group operates a fleet of more than 30 owned, leased, or operated natural gas, coal, oil hydro and petroleum coke plants, with total engineering capacity of over 18,500 megawatts and is building or acquiring more than 3,000 megawatts of new natural gas generation to join its 30,000 megawatts of nuclear, natural gas, coal, oil, hydroelectric and solar facilities.



The Manager/Sr. Manager, Renewable Generation is responsible for developing the strategy and establishing systems and programs associated Entergy’s growing renewable portfolio.  Strategic initiatives this role will be tasked with developing include, but not limited to: safety, operations & maintenance, staffing, commercial, financial, and strategic sourcing.  This position will also be responsible for the development and oversight of Entergy’s renewable generation safety and operations and maintenance programs and compliance with applicable laws (e.g., NERC/CIP compliance, Federal and State required reporting, etc.).  This position manages the performance of direct reports to ensure safe and dependable power production in an economic and environmentally responsible manner.



Renewable Resource Strategy: Develop strategic plans to address the needs of a growing renewable fleet, related to the integration of renewable facilities into corporate suite of applications, development of safety and O&M programs, development of staffing plans, including geographic location of personnel to more effectively support sites, commercial strategies to optimize performance of the facilities, budgeting and capital investment plans, and identification of opportunities to strategically source spare parts and equipment.


Operations & Maintenance:  Review and oversight of Entergy’s renewable generation O&M program, determining and ensuring appropriate maintenance tasks are being performed and completed within the prescribed intervals. Ensure compliance with all applicable policies/procedures and regulatory requirements (e.g., NERC/CIP compliance, Federal and State reporting requirements, etc.). Maintain an active and up to date risk registry prioritized for each operating site and the portfolio as a whole.  Ensure planning and scheduling resources are used to improve plant operations and maintenance efficiency. Ensure the development of procedures and policies to support operations and maintenance. Procedures should be living documents capturing industry best practices and organizational lessons learned.  Ensure adequate technical training is developed, administered and continuously improved over time. Establish and prioritize predictive maintenance practices where possible to optimize the preventive maintenance practices.


Asset Management: Maintain a long range 3/5 year asset management and budgetary strategy for each plant and associated support organizations. Management and oversight of third party contracts, includes the negotiation/ re-negotiation of O&M services, balance of plant, and various other third party contracts. Provide vendor oversight and management of warranty claims and quality. Develop asset management, including end-of-life/ re-powering, strategy. Ensure adequate repair parts and supply chain capacity to ensure high levels of performance and minimal downtime.


Financial Responsibility:  Develop realistic annual budgetary estimates with an ongoing risk and opportunity list prioritized to support efficient operations. Management and oversight of annual Capital and O&M budget adherence. Monitor and trend performance issues to inform budgetary targets. Maintain appropriate balance between reliability expenditure and budgetary conformance.


Leadership of Employees: Ensure Entergy and contract personnel are adhering to Entergy’s Safety Policies and Procedures. Develop staffing plan for renewable generation facilities integrating into Entergy’s fleet. Provide leadership, training, and coaching to a diverse team of individuals with varying skillsets. Coach, mentor, and enforce safe work practices and human error prevention behaviors to ensure worker safety and equipment reliability.


Other support, coordination and development related to Entergy’s renewable generation fleet as follows:  Serve as primary point of contact for all issues related to Entergy’s renewable generation fleet. Facilitate and/or support discussion with other stakeholders such as the SPO and Utility operating companies concerning relevant aspects of the impact of renewable generation on fossil fuel power plants, native load, and financial performance so they are factored into their strategies and operating plans. Provide support as needed to capital projects in the development and construction of new sites. Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry best practices. Develop deep subject matter expertise in the area of solar plant operations and maintenance in yourself and the organization. Establish metrics and monitor operational and financial performance and risks using dashboards.



Minimum education required of the position

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or business (MBA or other advance degree preferred).  Experience may be considered in lieu of a degree


Minimum experience required of the position

  • At least 10 years of prior experience in electrical generation engineering, operation, and/or maintenance.  5 years of supervisory/ management experience in an operational capacity

  • 5 years of experience managing/ supervising utility scale solar operations
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and implementing opportunities to improve processes, assess/manage risks, and enhancing financial/operational value
  • Demonstrated experience communicating and influencing peers and executive leadership


Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Prior experience with contract negotiations and contract dispute resolution
  • Ability to establish metrics and monitor performance using dashboards
  • Strong leadership and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to influence peers and executive leadership
  • Must be dependable, self-motivated, goal oriented, organized and able to manage multiple tasks with little or no supervision.
  • Prefer candidate with understanding of Entergy's Procurement and Financial regulations and programs
  • Prefer candidate with understanding of a regulatory business model and financial recovery processes
