 * This position will support the ongoing CCGT New Build team at the Montgomery County Power Station site, north of Houston, in Willis, TX.  The primary location for this position will be at this site, with support to The Woodlands, TX as needed. *

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides support to project management and controls team through development and execution of upcoming and ongoing projects. Work with project controls team members to ensure comprehensive project controls are implemented on Entergy projects and helps ensure projects have reliable cost and schedule estimates and achieve business goals on time and to budget. Provides support for Entergy’s Stage Gate Process (SGP) and project management standards – ensuring compliance with cost and schedule certainty for Entergy’s projects. Provide support and knowledge to ensure contract agreements reflect project controls requirements and that contractors implement controls in line with those requirements where they are utilized for elements of the project.

 

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides support to the project management and controls team by being accountable for the following tasks:

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of schedules
  • Apply fundamental schedule control techniques and liaison its relationship to cost
  • Provide analysis of contractor schedule data to identify key project issues
  • Verify contractor progress and review performance trends
  • Investigate causes of variances between planned and earned/actual progress and document discoveries
  • Identify, analyze and document project schedule variances and conclude on possible impacts
  • Support the development of plans and schedules for front end work
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of Issue and Risk register
  • Assist in the development of Cost QRA
  • Actively participate in the development of project Work Breakdown Structure
  • Assist in analysis of cost variances between budget, actual costs and support development of cost forecasts
  • Performs analysis, optimization, and reporting on Entergy project(s) including assessments of risk, cost, and schedule associated with completing planned scopes of work according to multi-year budget plans
  • Proven communication within and outside of the project teams
  • Development of presentations to support future and ongoing projects
  • Assist with all Project Management Standards in the area of cost, schedule, scope, WBS, risk and issues management for assigned projects
  • Works with the project team assigned to projects to prepare and maintains the Owner's schedule and to integrate the Owner's and all contractor's schedules into the master schedule for the project; performs schedule analytics to determine the quality of the schedule and to perform progress assessments; monitors and reports on compliance with schedule related contractual requirements by contractors
  • Works with Analysts assigned to projects to prepare and maintains the required cost reports and forecasts
  • Works with the project manager and other project team members to analyze change requests; documents and tracks approved project changes
  • Assists the project manager with issue and action item tracking as required
  • *May assist in the SGP as a Gate Reviewer by performing rigorous evaluations of project development and control deliverables, including business cases presented by project teams
  • *May assist project management in development of future business cases to develop ongoing portfolio of capital investments

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education:

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering Discipline, or equivalent work experience

 

Minimum Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience plus capital project development and management experience (large, complex, utility capital project experience essential)
  • Desired:
    • At least 2 years scheduling and cost experience in the management and control of large, complex utility capital projects with an EPC or Engineering firm
    • Experience within a multi-project environment
    • Experience in utility scale solar

 

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and experience in the management and control of complex utility capital projects
  • Knowledge and experience in the development and defense of project business cases, including the development of project alternative solution and the associated financial evaluation
  • Superior knowledge of the fundamentals of scheduling, cost control, and risk managementSuperior knowledge of scheduling software packages and related analytics
  • Superior skills with spreadsheet-based analytics
  • Knowledge of project and construction management fundamentals
  • Critical Thinking -- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Complex Problem Solving -- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desired:
    • Utilize schedule software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, Acumen Fuse and Risk Analysis
